It’s Michaela Berendt.
Recently, I shared a little of my story with you and why I’m so proud to be working with No Hate in WA State.
As a 6’3” cisgender woman and former athlete, I spent so many years feeling hyper-aware of how people judged my body and whether I fit into someone else’s idea of what a girl should look like.
I learned firsthand how challenging it can be when people decide you don’t belong because of how you look.
That experience is one reason I care so deeply about defeating IL26-001 and IL26-638.
These initiatives would make life harder for students who are already navigating some of the most challenging and confusing years of their lives. They would encourage suspicion rather than understanding, division rather than belonging, and put vulnerable young people directly in the political crosshairs. And they would force girls across the state to undergo invasive genital exams.
No student should be questioned, singled out, or made to feel ashamed simply for being who they are or participating in sports that they love. Tomorrow is our final end-of-month fundraising deadline, and the work we’re doing right now will determine how effectively we can reach Washington voters in the months ahead.
From voter outreach and community events to digital advertising and grassroots organizing in every corner of our state, every part of this campaign depends on the resources we raise today.
Thank you for standing with us!
