We’re up against a hostile administration, but that doesn’t mean we stop. It means we adapt. It means we double down on organizing young people, fighting for policies that save lives, and taking this movement state by state.
Yes, we’re still pushing for federal action. But right now, some of the most critical fights — and the biggest opportunities for change — are happening in statehouses, city councils, and school boards across the country.

Where We Must Fight
Tennessee
April was one of the deadliest months on record for children in Memphis. The number of kids shot has surged over the past decade. Dr. Regan Williams of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital says it plainly: “We don’t have common-sense gun legislation. We have a high rate of poverty, and there are a lot of guns out there.”
New York
The Bronx
Darrell Harris, a 17-year-old high school student, was shot and killed during a water gun fight. A moment that should’ve been harmless turned fatal because there are too many guns in our communities.
New York City Pride Parade
Pride weekend should have been a celebration of joy and identity. Instead, two teenage girls were shot at the end of the NYC Pride March. No community should have to fear violence during a moment of visibility and pride.
Wisconsin
This year, 25 students in Milwaukee have already lost their lives to gun violence. Brenda Cassellius, a Milwaukee Public Schools attendant, raised the alarm. We stand with her — and with every community demanding change.
Texas
Texas lawmakers just made it easier to access firearms while banning lifesaving “red flag” laws. They did it just days after the anniversary of the Uvalde massacre.
Gun violence is now the leading cause of death for children ages 1–17 in Texas — more than car crashes, more than cancer. And yet, lawmakers continue to put politics over lives.
Moments of Progress
Florida
A major gun bust in South Florida took 80 firearms off the streets — seven of them were tied to prior shootings, including a homicide. This is the kind of action that saves lives.
Oregon
Lawmakers passed a bill to ban devices that turn guns into machine guns and allow communities to limit guns in public buildings. This is common-sense policy, and it’s a major win.
Michigan
The Michigan Senate approved legislation to ban ghost guns, bump stocks, and firearms in the Capitol. It now heads to the House — and we’ll be fighting to get it over the finish line.
Wyoming
In a step backwards, Laramie County School District 1 voted to allow concealed carry on school campuses. We strongly oppose this. More guns in schools won’t make anyone safer. Real safety means investing in prevention, not arming teachers.
Despite everything we’ve faced this year — every setback, every tragedy — we’ve also made undeniable progress. That’s not luck. It’s the result of tireless work by young people refusing to give up.
