We have incredible news: After public outcry and pressure from March For Our Lives organizers and advocates like you, the New Jersey Legislature restored the full $1 million in funding for the Gun Violence Research Center at Rutgers University!
Governor Murphy had proposed cutting this critical funding, a decision that would’ve gutted lifesaving research on safe gun storage, community violence intervention, and prevention strategies. But we refused to let that happen.
This year especially, huge wins like this can feel hard to come by. That’s why it’s important to celebrate wins like these.
This victory in New Jersey shows exactly what’s possible when young people stand up, speak out, and demand action. We sent letters, raised our voices, and made it crystal clear: You can’t defund life-saving gun violence research while our communities are still grieving and lives are still being lost. Not on our watch.
Today’s win is a powerful reminder of our strength. But our work is far from over. We need your continued support to keep fighting and winning.
Together, we are unstoppable. Let’s keep pushing forward.
In celebration,
March For Our Lives
