In a month’s time, the FIFA Men’s World Cup will kick off, bringing millions of athletes, fans, journalists, and visitors to cities across North America.

The United States is hosting 78 of these matches across 11 cities. But the Trump administration’s policies could expose visitors and residents alike to serious harm – from brutal immigration raids and mass deportations, to crackdowns on free press and reckless disregard for due process.

FIFA has unique leverage to pressure the United States government to act. We’re calling on the organization to publicly call for an end to the Trump administration’s human rights abuses.

Urge FIFA leadership to protect the rights of players, fans, journalists, workers, and community members in World Cup host cities.

No one celebrating the World Cup should have to fear being denied entry, detained, or deported without due process – including the immigrant communities already living in host cities.

We’ve issued a travel advisory with 120 partner organizations, warning anyone visiting the United States for the games of possible civil and human rights violations. But FIFA can use their financial and reputational influence to take this action further.

FIFA must call on the Trump administration to end discriminatory travel bans and cruel, unlawful immigration enforcement actions.
