Virginia’s legislature just passed a sweeping package of gun safety laws and the governor signed them into law.
This is a major win for survivors, young organizers, and families who’ve fought for years, and your support made it possible.
Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger has acted on more than two dozen gun violence prevention bills that will soon become law in the commonwealth, including legislation that:
- Requires safe storage of firearms in vehicles.
- Requires schools to notify parents about how to safely store firearms.
- Prohibits unserialized firearms (often called ghost guns), as well as plastic firearms and receivers.
- Prohibits firearms at public colleges and universities.
- Increases restrictions for people convicted of domestic assault.
This is what real progress to address the gun violence epidemic in the U.S. looks like.
Our hard work is paying off, Kendall. With your help, we’ve proven that sustained organizing wins policy — and that those policies only work if we show up to implement and defend them.
Thank you for your part in this work,
