For 20 years, federal law has made it nearly impossible to sue gun manufacturers and dealers, no matter how recklessly they operate or how many lives they destroy.
Thanks to you, that’s finally changing.
Last month, a gun dealer and magazine manufacturer tied to the 2022 Buffalo massacre settled a landmark lawsuit. They were ordered to pay $1.75 million to survivors, and then shut down operations for good. New York’s first-in-the-nation gun accountability law, which we fought for together, made that possible.
Now other states across the country are following suit. Virginia just passed a similar law. Rhode Island is considering another one. Arizona, Massachusetts, and Vermont aren’t far behind.
The playbook is straightforward: states require the gun industry to take basic, commonsense precautions — and they give victims the legal tools to hold them accountable when they don’t.
This is the kind of progress March For Our Lives was built to win. But our victory in New York was hard-fought, and it took sustained pressure. Winning in Rhode Island, Arizona, Massachusetts, Vermont, and beyond will take more pressure — in statehouses, in courtrooms, and in the streets.
And that pressure will need resources.
Every dollar you give funds the organizing, advocacy, and awareness campaigns that push these laws across the finish line, and builds the pressure to make more states act.
The gun industry has had legal cover for too long. We’re taking it away, state by state.
