On March 12, our country was once again reminded that no space is sacred when it comes to gun violence. In a single day, we saw the horrific intersection of hate and easy access to weapons.
In West Bloomfield, Michigan, a gunman armed with a rifle rammed his vehicle into Temple Israel, one of the nation’s largest Reform synagogues, opening fire in a targeted act of antisemitic violence.
On the very same day, at Old Dominion University in Virginia, a shooter opened fire inside a classroom at Constant Hall, killing a beloved mentor and ROTC leader, Lt. Col. Brandon Shah, and wounding two others.
These aren’t just headlines. They are the shattered lives of students who should be focusing on their futures and families who should be safe in their places of worship. This is the reality of a country that continues to prioritize the profits of the gun lobby over the lives of its people.
NOTHING ABOUT THIS IS NORMAL.
At March For Our Lives, we refuse to accept this as our reality. We are working every single day to advocate for the common sense reforms that will save lives and hold those in power accountable. But we cannot do this work alone.
Your contribution helps us mobilize young people, push for life-saving legislation, and ensure that the voices of survivors are heard and the memories of victims are remembered in the halls of power.
We are tired of sending “thoughts and prayers.” We want action. We want change. And with your help, we will get there.
Thank you for standing with us.
