I don’t say that to frighten you. I say it because you deserve the truth—and because the truth is the only thing that will move us to act with the urgency this moment demands.
Donald Trump unilaterally started a war with Iran. No authorization. No notification. No explanation to the American people. He simply ordered bombs dropped on another country—because he could.
That is what unchecked power looks like. And we are living inside it.
Almost 250 years ago, we fought a revolution to be free of a king who believed he could do whatever he wanted. Now we face a president who believes the same thing. There is only one question that matters right now: Will we let him get away with it?
I don’t think we will. But we have to act—by building a pro-democracy movement too big to ignore. And that’s exactly what No Kings Day on March 28 is built to do.
But movements don’t build themselves. That’s where MoveOn comes in—and why I’m writing to you today.

Here’s what big days of action do that nothing else can: They reach people who are still on the sidelines. Not only the already converted. Not only the people already reading this email.
Large-scale protests can reach the folks who are angry but isolated, who think they’re alone in what they’re feeling. When they see events being organized on their main street, when they see people they know saying they are going, something shifts. They realize resistance isn’t fringe— it’s everywhere. And they take their first step.
That’s how movements grow. That’s how we build the numbers we need.
On March 28, millions of Americans will take to the streets for No Kings. More than 2,410 events are already being planned in cities and towns across the country. MoveOn is one of the core organizations making it happen—working 1-on-1 with thousands of volunteer hosts, running trainings, building and maintaining the technology infrastructure to coordinate thousands of safe and nonviolent events on a single day, and getting the word out to the media and people everywhere.
But to reach more people—people who are angry and ready to act but don’t yet know where to turn, or even that No Kings is for them—MoveOn needs to hire more organizers and expand its outreach.
MoveOn has been doing this work for more than 25 years. They can reach people in every corner of the country. But they need the resources to do it at the scale this moment demands.
As we resist tyranny, America gains solidarity. As we gain solidarity, we build courage. As we feel courageous and stand up to Trump, we weaken him and his regime.
But solidarity has to be built. It doesn’t appear on its own. It requires organizations with the capacity to find people where they are, speak to what they’re feeling, and channel their fear and anger into collective action. MoveOn is critical here.
