Republican megadonor and hedge-fund founder Brian Heywood’s efforts to force his conservative ideology on Washingtonians are now getting national attention:

In 2022, Heywood created a super PAC, Let’s Go Washington, to advance his personal agenda. Since then, he has spent an eight-figure sum trying to force 20 conservative policy proposals onto our ballots.

Heywood’s conservative agenda has included rolling back police oversight laws, repealing the capital gains tax, and withdrawing our state from the National Popular Vote compact, an agreement among states to award their electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote.

This November, he has two new priorities to roll back rights and safety in our state: ballot measures IL26-001 and IL26-638. We plan to defeat both, but we can only do it with your help. Join us by chipping in now.

Measure IL26-001 would repeal parts of the Safety Act, forcing schools to out LGBTQ+ students to unsupportive families, removing protections for abused children, and restricting access to help for students facing violence, sexual abuse, bullying, or depression.

Measure IL26-638 would place a blanket statewide ban on any trans girl in sports, and could force hundreds of thousands of girls into invasive, unnecessary genital exams just to participate in school sports teams.

Washingtonians respect and care for each other. We may not always agree, but we work together to protect our children from hate, bullying, and harassment.

And we are done with nonsense culture wars strategically designed to scapegoat our most vulnerable, while doing nothing to actually make life better for any of us.

Defeating these ballot measures will require us to stand up and fight back. Brian Heywood himself has said, “I can afford to do this for a long time.” It will take focused organizing, sustained outreach, and enough resources to fund a statewide campaign to defeat these harmful measures.
