WA State Senators voted (27-22) to pass the Millionaires Tax (SB 6346) this week! We’re excited about this huge step forward, but our fight isn’t over. It’s time to show our Representatives how much we support the Millionaires Tax – and we have three impactful ways for you to take action today!
#1: Speak up for the Millionaires Tax at your Legislative District’s Town Hall
Lawmakers are holding town halls in each legislative district, and many are this Saturday. Attending your local town hall and showing your support for the Millionaires Tax makes a huge difference!
We’ve gathered a list of all upcoming town halls, along with sample questions you can ask your lawmaker when you attend and even Zoom backgrounds you can use for those virtual townhalls. Find your town hall here!
#2: Sign in PRO for the Millionaires Tax House hearing
Now that the Millionaires Tax (SB 6346has passed the Senate, it’s time to sign in PRO for the upcoming House hearing expected next Tuesday. Signing in PRO will show lawmakers that we support the Millionaires Tax as written! It’s easy – all you need to do is fill out this form and we’ll make sure you’re signed in PRO for the next, and all, hearings on this bill!
#3: Call or email your legislators to tell them why you support the Millionaires Tax
We’ve made it super easy for you to thank your Senators and urge your Representatives to pass the Millionaires Tax. You can call them using this simple click-to-call tool, send them an email, or both! We have sample call scripts and emails prepared, but adding your own reasons for supporting the Millionaires Tax is always welcome.
Thank you to all of you who have taken action so far – this is a huge step toward a more equitable tax code in Washington state. It’s time to keep showing up and working hard to show our legislators just how much WA needs the Millionaires Tax.
