A quick update from Olympia: HB 2320, Washington’s bill to address 3D-printed firearms, has officially passed the House. That’s a big win, and now we need the Senate to keep the momentum going.
The bill is scheduled to be up in the Senate Law & Justice Committee later today. Take a moment to contact your Senator and make it clear: HB 2320 is a priority, and it needs to advance out of committee and onto the Senate floor for a vote.
“Ghost guns” aren’t just a buzzword. With downloadable gun-building code and machines like 3D printers and CNC mills, it’s become easier to build firearms at home, without a background check, and without the serial numbers that help with accountability and investigations.
HB 2320 is designed to bring our laws up to speed. It strengthens oversight by banning the distribution of digital firearm design files, making it illegal to 3D-print firearms or unfinished frames and receivers, and requiring sellers of firearm-making machines to include common-sense safeguards.
