🚨Update! WA Families for Freedom is now No Hate in WA State. We have a new logo and a new website, but our mission is the same—stopping the hate, bullying, and harassment of Washington students.

this November, Washingtonians will vote on IL26-001 and IL26-638, two poorly written initiatives that threaten the safety of all Washington kids.
There is a lot in these measures, so today, we wanted to explain clearly how they would impact our students and schools, if passed.
Measure IL26-001 would repeal parts of the Safety Act, meaning:
—Removes protections for abused children, allowing parents under criminal investigation for abusing their own kids access to private social work, counseling, and disciplinary records.
—Forces schools to out LGBTQ+ students to unsupportive families.
—Restricts access to help for students facing violence, sexual abuse, bullying, or depression.
—Empowers extremist groups to challenge what teachers can teach, jeopardizing all Washington students’ educational opportunities.
Measure IL26-638 would place a blanket statewide ban on any trans girls in sports and could force hundreds of thousands of girls into unnecessary genital exams just to play on school sports teams.
—It would disproportionately impact rural, low-income, and Black and brown girls who do not have access to long-term family doctors or pediatricians.
—Physical exams of girls’ reproductive organs may require pelvic exams, which are not only medically unnecessary for sports, but can also emotionally and physically harm young girls.
In short, these ballot measures hurt our students by turning our schools and children’s sports into political battlegrounds instead of places for teamwork and belonging.
Let’s also be crystal clear: These ballot measures are being pushed by Trump mega-donor and multi-millionaire Brian Heywood to create cultural wedge issues that divide our communities and keep us distracted from the economy, increased cost of living, and the healthcare crisis hurting working and middle-class families.
We will not allow divisiveness and hateful rhetoric to harm our kids and hurt our schools. Help us raise the resources we need to fund the focused organizing and sustained outreach we’ll need to defeat these measures in November. Contribute $25 today >>
