There were 600 ICE officers deployed to Chicago last year for a siege of kidnapping, harassment, and abuse. What we’re seeing now in Minnesota is an escalation by the Trump regime on an horrific scale with over 3,000 ICE officers on the ground in a much smaller city.
Organizers in Minnesota are calling on all of us to stand in solidarity with them by taking action nationwide this week, culminating on Friday, January 23. This is a moment when getting ICE out of Minneapolis means a chance to take back all our cities, keep ourselves and our neighbors safe, and deliver a massive blow to the Trump administration’s authoritarian agenda.
If you had already registered for the 1/20 training– great! This is a chance to dig into a crucial call to action to keep immigrants and each other safe. You’ll still receive the training on solidarity and be part of a specific moment of need.
Minneapolis is now the front line of our national fight against ICE and a testing ground for how far the Trump Administration can push their agenda of violence, intimidation, and repression, and the multiracial coalition of organizers in the Twin Cities are showing us what it looks like to fight back. And they’re making gains: last week, they won a meeting with the Target CEO through coordinated actions in 40 stores and a 100+ clergyperson sit-in.
Now, they’re asking for us to flank them. As they hold the line against ICE wreaking havoc in their communities, they have called for national support to amplify their organizing and use the local momentum for national change.
They’re calling on allies across the country to join them in a national week of action to say “ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA,” culminating on January 23.
Ready to stand in solidarity with the Twin Cities, honor the memory of Renee Good, and use this moment’s national momentum to deliver a serious blow to ICE and Trump’s agenda?
In 2020, organizers in the Twin Cities issued a call to stand with them– and as millions across the globe answered, we changed the game for racial justice forever. Now’s our chance to do it again.
In solidarity,
