We’re writing to share that Treasure Mackley will be stepping down as Executive Director of Invest in Washington Now, effective Friday, January 9, 2026.
Leading IWN through its first five years has been one of the greatest honors of Treasure’s career. The Board is deeply grateful for her leadership and proud of what our community has built together in such a short amount of time. With your support, IWN grew into a powerful statewide movement of more than 120,000 Washingtonians united by a shared belief in a fairer tax system and a stronger future for our state.
Together, we achieved what many said was impossible. We secured Washington’s capital gains tax—passing it in the Legislature, defending it in the courts, and protecting it at the ballot. That victory wasn’t inevitable. It happened because thousands of you showed up: speaking out, organizing, donating, and pushing forward even when the work was hard.
This movement has never been about one person. It is about Washingtonians who understand that when the wealthiest among us pay what they truly owe, we can invest in great schools, affordable housing, strong communities, and an economy where more people can thrive.
Over the coming weeks, Treasure and the IWN Board will work closely with staff and partners to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition. We will share more about next steps soon. In the meantime, our work continues—and your voice matters now as much as ever.oach for Washington state means more cuts on top of what we’re already suffering from the White House and Congress. For far too many families, groceries, child care, tuition, prescriptions and doctors’ visits will be even more out of reach.
