Dear MoveOn member,
Last week was a harrowing, dangerous week as Donald Trump turns increasingly violent and reckless.
But one thing is certain: There are millions of people across the country who are angry, fearful, and deeply upset by Trump’s warmongering, both abroad and here at home, and, together, we can—and will—rein in Trump.
Already on Thursday, the Senate voted to advance a war powers resolution to stop Trump’s military aggression in Venezuela.1 But it was just the first of many steps to Congress actually reining Trump in.
We have to stop Trump’s authoritarian, warmongering tirade now, before the country and world become even more destabilized—and our affordability crisis deepens even further.
More than 116,000 MoveOn members have signed our call to stop the U.S. occupation of Venezuela.2 A huge majority of Americans—94%—believe that the Venezuelan people, not Trump, should decide who leads their country.3 We need to make that opposition extremely public.
That’s why, if we can raise the money, MoveOn will put up billboards in highly strategic locations across the country calling on Congress to rein Trump in.
If you can afford it, will you start a monthly donation of $5 to MoveOn today to help us put up hard-hitting billboards and keep building a loud and very visible opposition to Trump’s oil profiteering and rush to war, for as long as it takes?
No, I’m sorry, I can’t make a monthly donation.
This military aggression in Venezuela is showing Americans just how disconnected Trump is from the needs of the American public at large.
On January 1, 20 million Americans saw their health insurance premiums skyrocket after Trump and Republicans failed to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies. The period to sign up for 2026 ACA policies ends in just five days, and many are planning to drop their insurance if our government doesn’t do something to bring those premiums down.4 And while the House of Representatives finally passed an extension of the subsidies, the Senate has yet to act.5
Is Donald Trump helping the single mom who saw her premium go from $85 a month to $750?6 Of course not. He is instead meeting with Big Oil executives about how much money they can make on Venezuelan oil.7
It is easy to tell ourselves that this is all just too out of control for any of us to do anything about it. Kendall, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Don’t forget that our movement against the Iraq War fundamentally changed the politics of this country because of the mass outpouring of rage from people like you.
Don’t forget that the House of Representatives just held—and won!—a vote to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies, even after Trump’s House Speaker said it wouldn’t happen.8
Don’t forget that we have power, when we come together. And we must come together like never before to stop Trump’s recklessness before it’s too late and violence escalates even further—in our streets, in Venezuela, and across the globe.
Please donate $5 a month to MoveOn’s emergency campaign to put up billboards and keep building a highly visible opposition to stop more endless wars.
No, I’m sorry, I can’t make a monthly donation.
Thanks for all you do.
