Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and while this day of giving is always a meaningful moment, this year feels particularly urgent. We’re in the fight of our lifetime for civil liberties, and we need you with us now more than ever.
That’s why this year, we’re starting Giving Tuesday early. Please, will you rush a gift to the ACLU and help us reach our $1 million goal?
The ACLU is on the front lines in the fight against President Trump’s attacks on our rights and liberties – and we’re winning – in more than 70% of our cases, we have already successfully defeated, diluted, or delayed President Trump’s agenda, including when:
- We sued and secured the release of our clients Mahmoud Khalil, Rümeysa Öztürk, Dr. Badar Khan Suri, and Mohsen Mahdawi, who were placed in immigration detention and threatened with deportation in retaliation for their constitutionally protected speech.
- We sued and won two rulings blocking President Trump’s unconstitutional executive order denying birthright citizenship to babies born on U.S. soil, a policy that would have destroyed immigrant families.
- We sued the State Department from denying accurate passports to transgender, intersex, and nonbinary people – even winning a stay that allowed countless people to update their passports while our case continues. Although the Supreme Court has since overturned this stay, our case isn’t over, and we’ll keep fighting President Trump’s discriminatory order in court.
- We sued to prevent President Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act – a centuries-old wartime authority that was never meant to be used in times of peace – to illegally deport immigrants without due process.
- We’ve mobilized across the country to defend our rights. In 2025 alone, we’ve organized over 93,000 people with our People Power activist program, over 33,000 people joined our Know Your Rights trainings, and countless activists continue to make their voices heard in the streets.
All told, we’ve filed over 100 lawsuits and taken more than 200 legal actions since President Trump took office. But we’re just getting started. We’ve got three more years with this administration, and we’re in the fight of our lifetime to protect civil liberties from ongoing attacks – so we urgently need you with us.
