WA Immigrant Solidarity Network – December 6, 2025

Posted on December 6, 2025

[Español Abajo]

We want to thank you for attending our General Meeting last month! Our monthly General Meeting allows community members from across Washington to share their experiences, discuss strategies for building community power in their local area and around the state, and give us an opportunity to involve directly affected people in our strategic decision-making processes.

Just in case you missed it or if you had any questions, here is a brief summary of the most important points we discussed and ways you can get involved:

We are hiring!

  • Operations Manager – WAISN is seeking an Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations—including finance, HR, and IT—while supporting the Finance & Operations team, strengthening organizational systems, and advancing our organization’s mission through facilitating cross-team collaboration and problem-solving.

Deportation Defense Hotline

Save, share and use the WAISN Deportation Defense Hotline number—1-844-724-3737.

Call or text the Hotline 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday to learn more about the rights that protect all Washingtonians, get support for detained persons, report immigration activity, request accompaniment to vulnerable locations, and to get connected with over 1400 immigration and community resources. Our Hotline organizers speak English and Spanish, and we offer interpretation in nearly 300 languages.

Last month 66% of the calls received by the Deportation Defense Hotline were tied to time-sensitive immigration issues. 27% were detention-related and 18% involved reports of immigration enforcement activity. These calls represent some of the most pressing situations our community members face.

In addition to enforcement-related calls, 19% of all calls were accompaniment requests and 2% were Fair Fight Bond Fund requests, underscoring the range of support people seek.

One of the detention trends we saw was the increase in rapid transfers, where individuals were moved out of state shortly after detention. Families often struggled to find local support or even locate the detained person, and many individuals were transferred before having any opportunity for due process. These cases allow us to connect families with trusted organizations in the state where their loved one has been taken. In addition to providing crucial support, calls to the Hotline help us understand what communities are experiencing in real time, and this is why sharing the Hotline number remains one of the most effective ways to strengthen community safety.

Do you know what to do if ICE comes to your home or workplace? Come and learn that and more at one of our upcoming Know Your Rights Trainings:

What: Know Your Rights Training
When: Dec 17, 2025 6pm–7:30pm

Rapid Response

Rapid Response is about protecting our neighbors in real time, and centering their safety, dignity, and autonomy. Almost 1000 Rapid Response volunteers from local organizations and our communities across the state remain committed to standing in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors by showing up to verify and document immigration activity and supporting impacted families.

This month, we were joined by members of two Rapid Response teams in East King County and Spokane. They spoke about their work building community power on the ground by sharing information, strengthening connections, and expanding access to essential resources.

Rapid Response volunteers embody WAISN’s commitment to peaceful strategies that center the dignity, autonomy, and respect of immigrants and refugees. If you would like to be part of this mutual aid movement, we invite you to join us at our next training.

Community Resources and Membership

Accompaniment

The WAISN Accompaniment Network is a statewide community-led support system designed to stand with our immigrant communities during critical immigration appointments.  Our volunteers accompany community members to:

  • ICE and USCIS check-ins
  • Intensive Supervision Appearance Program (ISAP) appointments
  • Court hearings
  • Immigration hearings

Right now, we are seeing increased enforcement, unpredictable detention decisions, and growing fear in our communities. Accompaniment is one of the most direct, human ways we can respond  through solidarity, presence, and community care.  Building strong accompaniment teams across Washington helps us ensure that families have support no matter where they live.  One of our priorities for 2026 is to grow accompaniment teams in East and Central Washington.

If you’re ready to help build an accompaniment team in East or Central Washington, we want to hear from you. Reach out so we can start organizing together!

Our general meeting is the third Thursday of every month, please join us on December 18th for the next one!

Zoom Information:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85189717565

To join by phone:

  1. Dial +1 253-205-0468
  2. When prompted, enter the Meeting ID: 83456393289 and press #
  3. When prompted, enter the passcode: 519681 and press #

In solidarity,

The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network

P.S. If you witness immigration activity, raids and detentions in Washington, please call the WAISN Deportation Defense Hotline at 1-844-724-3737. We have organizers available Monday through Friday from 6am to 6pm to take your call. Our organizers speak Spanish and English, and we have interpretation available in nearly 300 languages.
