October Red and Rural Newsletter!
Dear Red and Rural Caucus Indivisibles,
October is turning out to be a vital month in the fight to preserve our democracy.
We postponed our Red and Rural Caucus September call to focus the entire network on the looming Government Shutdown. And for good reason. The shutdown will hit Red and Rural America very hard. This is a key moment to hold the Republicans accountable for the damage they are doing, and to insist that the Democratic Party hold the line on how far they’ll let this authoritarian administration go.
Our next call on October 29th will address this, and more!
Shutdown Showdown
Indivisibles in Red and Rural districts have a key role to play – right now. We know who is trying to take away our healthcare and build an authoritarian state apparatus to strip us of our democratic rights. And Red and Rural Indivisibles are publicly calling out Republican Senators and Representatives for their votes and exposing their cowardice through office visits and demonstration and empty chair town halls. More of that please!

We’ve got the following resource to help energize your organizing around the federal government shutdown, including financial reimbursements. Here is the national landing page https://indivisible.org/
Indivisible has created a special Registration Page for putting these “Shutdown” events on Mobilize, here: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/c/stop-the-trump-shutdown/event/create/
Send your action photos and media hits to rural@indivisible.org! Even an LTE or Social Media Posts helps set the record straight. The GOP gave billionaires a tax cut in July. Now they want to make the rest of us pay for it.
Meanwhile, ICE and National Guard Troops are traumatizing families and Trump and Stephen Miller are further weaponizing the Justice Department against political opponents. But we’re not taking that lying down either.
No Kings 2 – Red and Rural Edition!

There is a reason that our National No Kings 2.0 Day of Action is peaking at over 2,500 events nationwide. It’s because red and rural progressives are organizing and showing up! That’s you!

And hot off the presses, to support your Red and Rural No Kings events we’ve got our very own Indivisible Red and Rural Mobilization Guide – to help you plan your own local actions. Dig in please!
Share your Events!
Are you attending a protest or rally, holding an online meeting with your members or another organization, writing a letter to your editor as a group or maybe sending postcards to voters? Send us photos to share with all the other groups throughout the caucus, and throughout the organization! We are all in this together, and sometimes seeing each other in action is a reminder of why this work is so important.
You can email your photos to: rural@indivisible.org
Heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. The pro-democracy movement can’t do this without you. Join the Indivisible Red and Rural Caucus call this October and be a part of the rejuvenation of small town American progressive politics! We’re building a network to build this movement y’all. Join us at the button below on October 29th!
Last but not least, congratulations to Aftyn Behn, who founded the Indivisible Red and Rural Caucus back in 2018. Last week, Aftyn won the Democratic Primary for the Tennessee Congressional District 07. Great to see Indivisibles like Aftyn building a bench of current and future candidates destined to build a multi-racial, multi generational democracy moving forward.
See you later this month,
– Scott from Indivisible’s Red and Rural Caucus,
