GOP Government Shut Down
Trump is already blaming Democrats for a possible government shutdown next week – with the White House threatening mass firings – even though the Republicans currently control all elected branches of the federal government.
It’s pretty clear that if we care about the American public’s well-being and want to preserve things like Constitutionally protected free speech or the rule of law, we need to strengthen local Democratic leadership and build more long-term Democratic power.

The Kansas legislature is looking to gerrymander Democratic Rep. Sharice Davids’ 3rd Congressional District. Davids’ team signaled this could motivate a run for Senate in 2026. She would be the most prominent Democrat to run in a state where Republicans haven’t lost a Senate race in nearly a century.

Freedom of the press is protected by the First Amendment in the U.S. Constitution. Period. Even die-hard Republicans, including sitting Senators, are speaking out against Trump’s putting a very heavy and threatening thumb on the scales. (Yes, low bar.)
