Just this week, Trump’s Department of Justice demanded Washington’s voter rolls, including sensitive personal information like Social Security and driver’s license numbers. They claim it’s about maintaining clean lists, but we know better: Trump wants to weaponize this information to push his baseless lies about voter fraud and justify his immigration crackdown.
Thankfully, Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs saw through this ploy. He made it clear that Washington will never compromise the privacy of our voters to enable Trump’s agenda.
Trump has already sued other states that refused his demands, and we could be next. We need to be ready to stand strong, defend our voters and Washington Democrats like Secretary Hobbs, and protect our democracy from these attacks.
