Trump’s proposed DC takeover is his latest attempt to use racism to consolidate authoritarian power. We need to be fighting back on all fronts.
This summer, our members have been doing just that– from over 2,000 people joining our first immigration training last week to mobilizing against the forced famine in Gaza. We’ve also been recruiting thousands more white people to join our movement– canvassing at marches, hosting mass meetings across the country, and inviting friends and family to SURJ events.
While we’re practicing strategic noncooperation and bringing in new people, we’ll also be fighting like hell to get MAGA out of office and elect progressive champions up and down the ballot. On Thursday, August 14 at 8 pm ET, we’re hosting a mass call to tell you all about our electoral plans for this year– in NYC, Virginia, and local candidates near you.
We’ll be focusing our powerful national phone bank on races where we can deliver strategic blows to MAGA and the billionaire agenda, including the NYC mayoral and the VA governor’s race. We’ll also be running a national online program where you can be trained to support local progressives candidates running in your community!
As we look towards the 2026 midterms and the 2028 general election, we know we need more power to 1) keep Trump from holding onto power or another MAGA candidate from ascending and 2) force corporate Democrats to run candidates that truly stand up for working people’s needs.
In this time of mass upheaval, we have the opportunity to harness the energy of the streets to not only wrest power from MAGA, but, as New York City showed us, elect powerful, movement-aligned candidates.
