WA Immigrant Solidarity Network – July 11, 2025

Posted on July 11, 2025

[Español Abajo]

Donald Trump signed one of the most destructive and anti-immigrant bills in modern American history into law.

It represents the largest transfer of wealth from the most vulnerable among us to the ultra-wealthy, all while escalating attacks on immigrant communities by giving Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 13 times its current budget for detention, which is already at a historic high.

In just six months, and before this added funding, ICE has made more than 620 arrests across the state.¹ With access to 13 times its current budget, we could see more than 8,000 Washingtonians detained—thousands of friends and neighbors ripped away from their families, and our communities living in fear.

As detentions and deportations increase, we must come together to scale the community-centered defense systems we’ve built to meet this moment.

Can you chip in to help us hire more Hotline operators, train more Rapid Response volunteers, bail more community members out of detention, and invest in more resources so our communities are safe and prepared?

The impacts of this law are going to be felt for years to come, and for us here in Washington, a border state that has fully embraced “healthcare for all,” we’ll likely be paying the steepest price.

This law will put almost 500,000 Washingtonians at risk of losing healthcare access, and push our uninsured rate back into the double digits for the first time in over a decade.² This means that elders needing care and families already struggling to make ends meet may lose access to lifesaving treatment.

And those in rural Washington, in communities like the one I grew up in, will be hit the hardest by these cuts. Rural hospitals and healthcare centers, which serve as lifelines for immigrant, farmworking families like mine—in places like Othello, Sunnyside, Shelton and Omak—are facing possible closures as their funding evaporates with this bill.

These hospitals and healthcare centers are where farmworkers go after injury or sickness, where my parents drove me and my siblings in the middle of the night when we needed urgent care, and where communities trust to go and seek care when they need it most. If these hospitals close, it will be immigrants and low-income families who will feel the pain first.

Right now is the time to step up for our friends, families, and neighbors—and we need your help to make sure we can push against these attacks just as hard as they are pushing to harm and exclude our communities.

The work doesn’t slow down, but neither do we. Can you make a donation today to help us keep pushing, organizing, and fighting for a world where we can all thrive?

rts to cut safety net programs, and new and increased fees for immigration applications.

Invest in immigrant justice today

[English above]

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, support for public health policies has gradually declined. At the federal level certain policies and practices regarding vaccines have been thrown into question.

Vaccine proponents note the long-time and widespread benefits of the traditional MMR vaccine; vaccine skeptics generally insist it causes autism. Some say the approval process (Operation Warp Speed for Covid-19) was either rushed or rigged; others say the process was instrumental in reducing suffering and saved the lives of millions of people.
