We’re watching what’s happening in LA, and now increasingly nationwide, especially as we head into the weekend with this parade where Trump wants to meet seemingly any protest with “very heavy force.” NDTC CEO, Kelly Dietrich, released a statement addressing Trump’s escalatory tactics and weaponization of the military for his own personal and political gain. Here’s what he had to say:

The moment was alarming on its own, signaling a dangerous blurring of lines between the military and the president’s political agenda.

Electing Democratic state and local legislators who embrace commonsense gun safety regulations saves children’s lives. A new study published Monday in JAMA Pediatrics found that, “States that made it easier to obtain and carry a firearm had a tradeoff for that, which was a higher rate of mortality in kids.”

Why this story is important:
They spent $134 million taxpayer dollars to unilaterally send in the National Guard and Marines – without any plan for where they’d sleep.
