A blue dot in a red state — Omaha elected its first Black mayor, John Ewing Jr., ousting three-term Republican Mayor Jean Stothert. Ewing’s election marks the first time the city has had a Democratic mayor since 2013, when Jim Suttle was in office.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested and detained by ICE. He was accompanied by Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.), Rob Menendez (D-N.J.) and LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.) as they were attempting to exercise their oversight authority over a migrant detention facility.
