These times call on us to not only show up, but take on new challenges. Since Trump’s election, we have heard from countless SURJ members that they’re doing something for the first time. Showing up to a protest. Organizing an action. Knocking on their neighbors’ doors.
Today, I’m writing to invite you to join me and other SURJ members to add the next skill to your organizing toolbelt: join our Grassroots Fundraising Drive and get trained to raise money for SURJ and our movements. As nonprofits like SURJ are increasingly under attack, having a vibrant, anti-racist grassroots donor network is more important than ever. And that’s where you come in.
Can you join us to skill up in fundraising and raise money for SURJ?
In this drive, you’ll attend a training where you’ll learn grassroots fundraising 101 skills. Then, in a cohort of members across the country, together we’ll take on a 10 day fundraising sprint to raise $100,000 to fund SURJ’s organizing work.
Many of us were taught not to talk about money just like we were told not to talk about race. But in one, two-hour training, you’ll learn that fundraising is a skill that can be honed and deepened, not only to help power SURJ’s work, but that can be applied to many causes in your life.
SURJ’s future depends on all kinds of members. If you’ve found your political home here, but haven’t yet found your stride in our existing programs, come learn how to step into your power with Grassroots Fundraising. And if you’ve been taking action with SURJ this year, this fundraising drive is an amazing opportunity to share about SURJ and your involvement with the people in your life.
See you there–
