Will you donate to our GiveBIG campaign before midnight tonight?
I’ve already shared a few reasons why your support is so critical right now, as we face a wave of coordinated attacks on immigrant communities. Here’s another—one with national consequences.
In just eight days, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on whether to lift the nationwide injunction blocking the president’s attempt to gut birthright citizenship.
The executive order, issued earlier this year, seeks to deny U.S. citizenship to babies born here. It’s a direct attack on the Fourteenth Amendment and a dangerous attempt to redefine who counts as American.
NWIRP didn’t wait to act.
We filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of impacted community members. The State of Washington filed a separate challenge. The two cases were consolidated, and on February 6, a federal court blocked the executive order from taking effect.
That win was possible because of people like you.
But the fight is far from over.
After the Supreme Court hears arguments on May 15, NWIRP’s Impact Litigation Unit—funded entirely by community support—will join the Washington Attorney General’s Office to argue before the Ninth Circuit on June 3. At stake: whether the president can unilaterally rewrite the Constitution’s Citizenship Clause.
What happens in the next few weeks could shape the future of birthright citizenship in this country.
Kendall, this work is only possible because of people like you—people who believe in justice and equity for all persons, regardless of where they were born. Will you join us with a GiveBIG gift today?
Whether you contribute today or support in other ways, thank you for being in solidarity with NWIRP.

With gratitude and shared resolve,

Malou Chávez (she/her/ella)
Executive Director
P.S. GiveBIG ends at midnight—and it’s a call to act in community, not alone. Your gift today, joined with so many others, will fuel our collective fight for justice and equity for all.
