We’ll be frank, Trump made a move that should scare all of us.
He quietly removed the acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) — and replaced him with the Army Secretary, who’s now expected to do both jobs.
Running the ATF is not a side hustle. It’s not something you squeeze in between army meetings. It’s a full-time job — and one that’s central to enforcing our nation’s gun laws and protecting public safety.
But Trump doesn’t care about effective leadership or public safety. He’s playing politics with the agency responsible for regulating deadly weapons.
We need to call this what it is: dangerous negligence.
We’re organizing young people across the country to demand real accountability and real safety — not shortcuts, not cover-ups, and definitely not double-booked leadership.
We don’t accept a world where the agency responsible for regulating guns is treated like an afterthought. We don’t accept this as normal.
