Hello to our wonderful community! We just wanted to let you know that if you know of things going on around town and think our community would benefit from hearing about it, please reply to this and send it over. We cannot cover everything, but we have such a diverse crew we want to be sure to cover things happening locally. Thanks all and let’s get started!

This just brought a smile to my face, this is a video made by Jess Craven who writes Chop Wood, Carry Water on Substack. It is called 12 Days after Trump

Hello Democrats,

I am happy to announce that 2026 State Delegate Virtual Self-Nomination is OPEN!

Our 2026 State Democratic Convention will be held in Spokane, WA on June 19th-21st, 2026! If you would like to attend the convention as a State Delegate, the process to run for Delegate begins TODAY! The Delegate Self-Nomination process will be open from January 1st – February 20th at 5 PM! If you would like to Self-Nominate please do so HERE!

Becoming a State Delegate is an amazing way to have an impact on the State Democratic Party’s official positions that affect today’s biggest policy issues across the state and ensure that your community’s needs and values are represented in the Democratic Party, by having a voice and vote on our party platform and resolutions. It will also be a great opportunity to connect with elected and community leaders, grassroots organizers, and other democrats. If you want to learn more about the process please see our Delegate Selection Process Resource Guide

The Delegate Self-Nomination Form will ask you for your name, email, address, as well as ask you to affirm you are a Democrat. This information will only be used for internal state party staff for logistics. The form will also ask you for your Public Candidate Profile information that will be public on our Virtual Delegate Voters Guide that will be available on wadems.org. The Virtual Delegate Voter Guide will be available by January 26th for members to familiarize themselves with the Delegate Candidates in their district.

After the Self-Nomination window closes, each Legislative District will hold a Delegate Candidate Forum during the week of February 21st – February 28th, to give you all a chance to share your story, and why you want to be a State Delegate, with members who will be voting for you. The Chair of your Legislative District Democratic Organization will let you know when that forum will be happening so you can prepare.

By Self-Nominating to run for State Delegate, you will be on the State Delegate ballot in your Legislative District that will be distributed to Members in your district on March 1st from 10 AM to 7 PM. If you are elected on March 1st, you will become a Delegate or Alternate in your Legislative District Delegation to the 2026 State Convention in Spokane! If you would like to review our 2026 Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan that guides this process please review it HERE.

If you have any questions about this process I would be happy to answer them! Please email partyaffairs@wa-democrats.org to get your questions answered. We will also be holding many training sessions and office hours throughout the process to make sure folks are up to speed! Those trainings can be found below:

Did you see the news yesterday? The Governor says he’s drafting a cuts-only budget — that means more cuts on top of those we’re already suffering from the White House and Congress. For far too many Washington families, groceries, child care, tuition, prescriptions, and doctor’s visits will be even more out of reach.

Lawmakers made progress last year, avoiding drastic cuts by passing or expanding progressive revenue. Tell them to keep going!

Send Your Story Now

Look, we get it. The White House and Congress have put our Governor in a tough spot. But there’s so much wealth in Washington, it doesn’t have to be this way. A new Seattle Times report shows some Washington CEOs are taking home record-breaking compensation packages of over $100 million a year!

A cuts-only approach means even more pressure on the systems we all rely on, — healthcare, childcare, and education — all while this Administration’s “Big Ugly Bill” slashes federal funding to those same services and gives billions in tax cuts to the richest Washingtonians and big corporations.

You can make a difference now while the Governor is writing his budget. Tell the Governor and state lawmakers to make the mega-millionaires and billionaires in our state pay what they owe instead of balancing the state budget on families who can least afford it. Send your email to the Governor now!

Thank you for taking action,

Treasure

Benton County WA Democrats

It was a late Sunday afternoon like any other on San Francisco’s Alcatraz Island. The day was winding down, and Aidan Moore, a guest relations employee for Alcatraz City Cruises, was at the dock of the tourist attraction helping visitors disembark. Suddenly, one of the tourists approached him, wide-eyed: They had just seen a coyote swimming to shore, something that has never been recorded before. FULL STORY BELOW:

Let’s join together for our first gathering of 2026. This month we'll meet at the Round Table Pizza on Court Street in Pasco. January 9 at 6pm. Come gather with like-minded folks and share some fellowship, food and beverages. As is our normal practice, Tri-City Democrats will order several pizzas to share. We'll have the donation box available for those who care to financially support the group. Some of our generous members are likely to purchase pitchers of beer to share. If you want the salad bar or soft drinks, you are on your own for those items.

At this writing, we do not have a planned program, but we will have 'Hate Has no Home Here' signs available. We are coming up on election time for the group - at our January meeting we'll plan to hold elections for our officers for 2026. Please let us know if you are interested in serving on the board!
