Today marks the end of Trump’s first 100 days in office. Yesterday, he signed more egregious executive orders targeting immigrants. It’s as clear as it’s been all along: he’s here for a billionaire agenda implemented with racism and a blatant disregard for the needs of regular people like us.
May Day started with immigrant workers fighting for better lives for all of us. This year, we’re reclaiming that legacy in now over 1,000 locations across the country. From small farming towns in the midwest to the avenues of major cities, we’re joining together saying: COME FOR ONE OF US, FACE US ALL OF US.
We’re a proud partner in this national day of action because white people– workers, teachers, parents, queers, all of us!– have a stake in standing shoulder to shoulder with immigrants and people of color and bringing down the billionaire agenda.
This is a historic day when labor unions and racial justice and economic justice and immigrant rights groups and more come together across our issues and geographies. We come together because there are more of us than there are of them. And when we fight together, we can win.
May Day celebrates victories like the eight hour work day and the right to unionize. In their time, those were huge wins. We need huge wins today– and one way we get them is showing our power in numbers.
