About Tuesday Night…
The last couple of days have been a hopeful reminder of what democracy can look like, of the value of showing up and stepping up.
Sen. Cory Booker didn’t just show up – he gave a marathon speech for the ages and gummed up the works (according to Senate rules) so that everyone had to stop and pay attention. That is exactly how we exert the power we do have. More please! Especially since voters in Wisconsin – and yes, even in Florida – clearly showed that they are not up for extremism.
Congratulations to Judge Crawford! Thank you to Josh Weill for stepping up! And a huge shoutout to NDTC learner, Gay Valimont, who not only stepped up in a ruby red district, but overperformed and flipped Escambia County, which hasn’t gone federally blue since 2006!
Remember, MAGA does not have a mandate. It’s why they underperformed Tuesday night. Bigly.
If you’re thinking of running for office, join us! We will help you. Read on for a great slate of NDTC trainings coming up!

What’s On Our Newsfeeds

Why this story is important:
Republicans do not have a mandate, and that is crystal clear after the 4/1 elections.
Not only did Democrats significantly overperform in Florida, we also won important races in Wisconsin, including the Wisconsin Supreme Court race!

Why this story is important:
Trump is raising prices on everyday goods. Trump announced his tariff plan, and these sweeping tariffs will raise prices on many imported goods (which is more goods than you may think!).
Why is he doing this? To fund his tax handouts to billionaires.

Why this story is important:
Speaker Johnson is doing everything in his power to prevent a vote on a bill that would allow new parents to vote via a proxy. However, despite his best efforts, 9 Republicans joined Democrats to help get this bill to the floor. This was a major loss for Speaker Johnson.

Why this story is important:
Senator Cory Booker disrupted Senate business for 25 hours and 5 minutes.
In a speech for the history books, Senator Booker got in good trouble because it is not business as usual in our federal government.
