We’re in a fight of our lives.
Since January 20, Donald Trump has attempted to strip away the rights of my trans family, denying us access to lifesaving medical care and attempting to deny our very existence.
Let me be clear: We exist, we are here, and we will not stop fighting.
As an attorney and the Co-Director of the ACLU’s LGBTQ & HIV Rights Project, I’m proud to be a part of the work to protect the rights of the trans community – my community. From defending the right to gender-affirming medical care, to suing to protect the right of trans, nonbinary, and intersex individuals to have accurate passports, I know that this work has a real impact on people’s lives.
I also know, as someone who feels the impact of your donations every day, that your support is especially crucial right now. My community’s rights depend on the ACLU showing up in courtrooms, Congress, and the streets. And that depends on the support of donors like you.
And to my trans family: I love you, and I will never stop fighting for our right to be ourselves. Whether you are a part of our community or a part of our family of supporters, I thank you for fueling this fight and all of the ACLU’s work to promote freedom and equality nationwide.
Onward,
Chase Strangio

At the ACLU, we call our monthly supporters Guardians of Liberty because that’s exactly what they are.
One of the best ways you can sustain our work is by becoming a monthly donor. And if you do so today, your first monthly gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar thanks to a group of donors.
