Move On – September 12, 2024

Posted on September 12, 2024

Dear MoveOn member,

MAGA Republicans are seeing a path to the White House and control of the Senate, and it leads through Pennsylvania.

MAGA has just planned a $100 million campaign onslaught in Pennsylvania for the next two months to defeat MoveOn-endorsed Senator Bob Casey and win the state for Donald Trump.1

Right now, the polls in Pennsylvania are razor-thin, with Sen. Casey tied with his opponent Dave McCormick.2 In Ohio, another critical state, our endorsed candidate Senator Sherrod Brown leads his opponent by just two points.3 And MoveOn-endorsed Senator Jacky Rosen’s lead is narrowing over her opponent in Nevada.4

Kendall, not only do we need victories in every one of these races to keep the Senate, they also have an excellent chance of bringing presidential votes for Vice President Kamala Harris with them.

These races are projected to be nail-biters, but we have the power to win them and stop a Project 2025 takeover of the Senate if we come together right now.

Will you donate $9 to help keep the Senate and take the White House in November? Your donation will be split between the campaigns of Democrats Bob Casey, Jacky Rosen, and Sherrod Brown and MoveOn’s proven election program.

Reelecting Sens. Casey, Brown, and Rosen isn’t just about winning the Senate or defeating the Electoral College deficit polls are now showing for Vice President Harris (although those are huge reasons to do this work!).

Sens. Casey, Brown, and Rosen are critical votes in the push to make abortion legal nationally. They are strong voices in the Senate for stopping corporate price gouging and abuse of power, and they will fight to support working families.

Meanwhile, their opponents are working the Trump playbook, Project 2025.

Pennsylvania Republican David McCormick is another carpetbagger, living in Connecticut but claiming Pennsylvania roots. He’s a 1 percenter hedge fund manager who is anti-abortion and wants to double down on Trump’s tax cuts for the rich.5

In Ohio, Republican Bernie Moreno is campaigning on his love for Trump. He’s anti-immigration even though he is an immigrant himself.6 And he is spreading dangerous disinformation about abortion at every campaign event.7

Then there is Nevada Republican Sam Brown, who until recently has been virulently anti-abortion in his campaign—and, as is so typical, despite his wife having had an abortion.8 He has also been prominent in anti-LGBTQ+ movements and has pushed for Christian nationalism.9

We can’t let these MAGA candidates reach the Senate. Will you donate $9 today? Your donation will be split between the campaigns of Democrats Bob Casey, Jacky Rosen, and Sherrod Brown and MoveOn.

A poll of swing voters, who don’t pay as much attention to politics, produced surprising results: These voters are progressive when it comes to economic policies.10

The top policies that would win their votes for the Harris-Walz ticket include expanding Medicare coverage, raising the federal minimum wage, raising taxes on the wealthy, and increasing abortion protections.

That’s what our endorsed Senate candidates stand for—so we need to get the word out.

We have less than eight weeks to reach as many of our surge voters—those who don’t typically pay close attention to politics and need an extra push to turn out to vote—as possible in battleground states where polling is razor-thin.

MoveOn has a super-powered get-out-the-vote plan, with an easy way to reach out to family and friends and talk to them about these policy issues that we know they care about. And we’re using a state-of-the-art social media program, including influencers and MoveOn members, to let the voters who can swing this election know which issues are on the line this year—and which candidates will do the most for them.

We have the research, we have the tools. Now all we need is your help to sustain our work through Election Day and elect a Democratic government with Kamala Harris as president.

We need to get the word out now. Will you donate $9 today? Your donation will be split between the campaigns of Democrats Bob Casey, Jacky Rosen, and Sherrod Brown and MoveOn’s proven election program.

Thanks for all you do.

–Mohammad, David, Ankur, Chris, and the rest of the team

Want to support MoveOn? The MAGA right is declaring war, and Project 2025 is their battle plan. Project 2025 threatens our rights, attacks communities of color, hurts middle- and working-class families, and undermines our democracy. But we will not back down or let Trump steamroll our nation.

Will you donate to power MoveOn’s election plan, stop Trump, and ensure Project 2025 is never enacted?

Yes, I’ll chip in.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, support for public health policies has gradually declined. At the federal level certain policies and practices regarding vaccines have been thrown into question.

Vaccine proponents note the long-time and widespread benefits of the traditional MMR vaccine; vaccine skeptics generally insist it causes autism. Some say the approval process (Operation Warp Speed for Covid-19) was either rushed or rigged; others say the process was instrumental in reducing suffering and saved the lives of millions of people.
