As we close out the year, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate all we’ve accomplished together and share a glimpse of what we have in store for 2025!
This year, the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, with the support of advocates like you, achieved critical victories across Washington, including:

  • Passed new requirements for firearms dealers to help keep guns out of the wrong hands.
  • Passed requirements for the reporting of lost and stolen firearms.
  • Expanded limits on firearms in sensitive areas where our children spend time.
  • Partnered with stakeholders statewide to continue implementing the landmark laws we’ve passed in the last decade.
  • Endorsed over 100 candidates across the state, resulting in the election of our first-ever gun violence prevention supermajority in the legislature.
  • Continued to see a decline in suicide by firearm, even as the national average has risen.

Can you help us celebrate our accomplishments in 2024 by contributing $35.00?

Earlier this month, we unveiled our policy agenda for 2025. 

At the top of the list is a proposal to implement a Permit-to-Purchase system in Washington—a life-saving policy proven to reduce gun violence. Under this system, buyers would need to apply in person, undergo fingerprint verification, complete a background check, and participate in firearm safety training. States with Permit-to-Purchase systems experience significantly lower rates of gun deaths, trafficking, and suicides.

Our 2025 priorities also include:

  • Strengthening laws to hold gun dealers accountable.
  • Safeguarding funding for community violence intervention programs.
  • Expanding safe storage laws and limiting guns in sensitive public spaces.

Thanks to your support, we’ve made incredible strides in gun safety in Washington. In 2025, we have an opportunity to continue leading the nation in gun violence prevention. Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare for the upcoming legislative session in Olympia.
