Trump has explicitly stated he will use the Insurrection Act to deploy military forces on American soil against his opponents.2 He plans to use federal troops to round up millions of undocumented immigrants in our communities, break up families, and send people to detention camps. And he’s threatening to use the archaic Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to override sanctuary cities that try to protect their residents.3
The economic threat is just as dire: Elon Musk and his “Department of Government Efficiency” co-chair Vivek Ramaswamy have announced plans to cut $2 trillion—about 30% of the entire federal budget.4 There’s no way to slash the federal budget by one-third without devastating cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and other vital programs that millions of working Americans rely on. We can’t let Trump and his wealthy friends destroy the economic security of millions of American families.
MoveOn has a proven track record of mobilizing grassroots power to defend our values and hold the line against extremism. In the face of Trump’s previous assaults on our institutions, MoveOn:
