WSDCC Wrap-up November 4, 2022

Posted on November 4, 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Can you believe we are just 4 days out from Election Day? That means we have less than 100 hours left to do everything in our power to get out the Democratic vote statewide.

Take a look at this article from The New York Times on Senator Murray’s race – it’s a stark reminder that the stakes are sky-high this election and we cannot afford to leave anything up to chance. Here’s what you can do to help give Senator Murray and every Democrat on the ballot their best shot at victory:

1)   DONATE – please support our last-minute GOTV push in top priority turf

2)   VOLUNTEER – help us make meaningful voter contacts and maximize turnout

3)   VOTE – if you haven’t, and encourage every Democrat you know to return their ballot ASAP

It’s absolutely crucial every Democrat does their part in these critical final days. Here’s a reminder of what we must accomplish on Election Day:

Support Sen. Patty Murray and Every Single Democratic Incumbent on the Ballot— We will fight to maintain our powerful, diverse majorities and keep passing progressive legislation for years to come.

Protect Kim Schrier in WA-08, defend all of our Congressional incumbents, and do everything we can to push our new candidates over the edge to victory —

Holding WA-08 is crucial to any conceivable path to keeping the U.S. House. Rep. Schrier is the only pro-choice female doctor in Congress, and we must make sure she can continue bringing powerful leadership to our party.

We also have an unprecedented opportunity to gain ground and potentially flip a longtime red seat in WA-03, where terrific Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is facing off against MAGA White Nationalist Joe Kent. We cannot sleep on this race and are fighting every day to help Marie over the finish line!

Not to mention the fact that we are fighting around the clock to defend all of our Terrific Democratic Congressional incumbents. We are taking nothing for granted this year and are working with all our might to make sure we don’t lose a single inch of ground in each of these critical races!

Help WA Secretary of State Steve Hobbs win in November’s special election—Victory would mark the first time a Democrat has won this seat since the 1960s and could usher in a new era of Democratic secretaries of state in Washington, who will fight to expand the franchise — rather than intimidating voters in the name of bogus “election security” concerns. Steve is doing a terrific job and we need to do all we can to help him hold this seat!

And I also want to emphasize just how important it is that we stop GOP “also-ran” Brad Klippert’s insidious write-in campaign in its tracks. Klippert is a far-right MAGA Republican who would advocate to make our elections less free, fair, and transparent if he wins. Click the picture below to watch a joint statement from Governor Inslee and me emphasizing just how critical it is that we keep Klippert out of office!

We must also protect our diverse and powerful majorities in Olympia and help every Democrat on the ballot — thanks to our work over the past five years we have been able to build Democratic power statewide and consistently pass meaningful, transformative policy for everyday Washingtonians. If we want to build an even more Democratic Washington in the years to come, we cannot yield a single inch this November.

Protect our diverse and powerful majorities in Olympia and help every Democrat on the ballot — thanks to our work over the past five years we have been able to build Democratic power statewide and consistently pass meaningful, transformative policy for everyday Washingtonians. If we want to build an even more Democratic Washington in the years to come, we cannot yield a single inch this November.

With extremely tight races forecasted in LDs 26, 30, 42, 44, and 47 to name just a few, we have our work cut out for us and can’t leave anything up to chance. Don’t forget, these races are known to come down to margins of 100 votes or less – so even one hour of door knocking can mean the difference between victory and defeat!

I hope you believe me when I say we can’t let a single moment go to waste between now and Tuesday – but rest assured, we will continue our tireless, 24/7 efforts to turn out every single Democratic voter!

WORKING FOR WASHINGTON

Thank you for all you have done for Democrats over the past two years, and I hope you will dig deep in these critical final hours. Every day is Election Day from here on out and we need you to commit to one or more of the following three actions to help push our terrific candidates over the finish line in the closest races statewide:

1)     Please consider one more donation to help with last-minute GOTV pushes in key turf statewide. Any support you can provide will help us reach low-propensity, likely Democratic voters who have yet to turn in their ballots. The best way to donate is online here.

2)     Please sign up for one or more volunteer shifts – we are knocking on doors, making calls, and sending texts across Washington State every second until ballots are due! Please click here to sign up for one or more shifts in your area and help us reach every Democratic voter!

3)     And last but certainly not least, if you haven’t done so already, PLEASE VOTE (find a drop box near you using this link). If, for any reason, there is an issue with your ballot, we can help you correct it and get your ballot counted – call our voter hotline for any concerns at 206-309-VOTE. And please do make certain your friends and family VOTE too – again, we need every vote this cycle. Help us! Use social media, dinnertime conversations, coffee shop talks, whatever it takes to make certain folks know they need to vote!

Ask yourself this question, do you want to wake up on Nov. 9 wishing you had done more for Democrats? Some of our most important races could come down to just a few hundred votes and we can’t afford to waste a single minute or leave a single vote on the table.

Thank you for your commitment, and for standing by us in these critical final moments.

DEMOCRATS IN THE NEWS

Patty Murray Faces Stiff Challenge in Senate Re-election Race

The five-term Washington senator is concerned about complacency among Democratic voters, who have come to regard her as a fixture who will always be there. She faces a Republican newcomer, Tiffany Smiley.

Op-ed: Democrats are better for our country and economy

Republicans often claim their party is better for the economy, but if we look at what Democratic majorities have done in just two short years – including recently passing the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act – it’s clear the Democratic party is the one setting our country and economy up for long-term success.

‘Successful for a lot of different reasons’: Inslee tours Safe Stay site in Vancouver

Gov. Jay Inslee toured Vancouver’s first Safe Stay Community on Monday, hailing the city’s efforts to address homelessness as a model for the state.

Kilmer, Murray, Cantwell Deliver Over $25 Million to Port of Grays Harbor to Expand Export Terminal, Spur Economic Growth

U.S. Representative Derek Kilmer (WA-06) and U.S. Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) announced that a $25.5 million federal grant has been awarded to the Port of Grays Harbor in Washington state.

Former President Barack Obama recently posted on LinkedIn Abraham Lincoln's understanding of hard work and pulling up the bootstraps for independent success. Lincoln also understood we are not here alone. And we're not meant to solve the world's problems alone. A friend of mine from D.C. and smarter-than-most has taken note of not only these values, but the values of rural America - and what we're doing right here in Benton County. The goal is to accomplish the most in every possible way for the benefit of the majority of the people - and then some! Our political climate has dramatically derailed this goal by dividing our nation. However, we can always take back our flag - take back our values - take back our rural ways of life - and take back what it means to be a united front. Below is the original post by Barack Obama and the response from a loved friend who recognizes our "dirt road" lifestyle and our desire to build up our communities. We should all be proud to pull up our boot straps and then turn to those next to us and help them pull up their straps as well. Cheers to you all and I hope to see you next Thursday for our annual Normal and Shirly Miller Leadership Dinner - TOGETHER!MistyChair P.S. And for the love of America - #ProtectOurPublicLands ...
