MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

We are in the thick of GOTV season and it’s been a huge week for Democrats across Washington State! There’s far too much incredible work happening statewide to share in one email, but I do want to send you some highlights from the campaign trail!

First – please join me in saying a huge thank you to Vice President Kamala Harris for visiting Seattle this past Wednesday!

It was a privilege to participate in this terrific event and we’re thrilled the VP came out to help make sure Senator Murray and every Democrat up and down the ticket has what it takes to win. With sky-high stakes in Washington this November, we won’t let this opportunity go to waste and will continue our tireless, 24/7 efforts to turn out every single Democratic voter!

Things are heating up in the Secretary of State’s race.

A Seattle Times/King 5 poll released last week shows SoS Steve Hobbs is gaining momentum. Hobbs has an 11 point lead on Anderson, 40% to 29%. Hobbs leads by 14 points in Western Washington and 15 points in the Metro Seattle area, while the candidates are tied in Eastern Washington.

The poll also shows that Hobbs has overwhelming leads among Democrats (81% – 5%) and Biden 2020 voters (71% – 10%), while a significant portion of Anderson’s support comes from Republicans and Trump supporters. Anderson leads Hobbs 53% to 3% among self-identified Republicans and 56% to 4% among those who say they voted for Donald Trump in 2020. A significant number of Republicans (44%) and Trump 2020 voters (40%) remain undecided, and the entry of State Rep. Brad Klippert as a Republican write-in candidate could make it difficult for Anderson to consolidate this voting bloc.

Anderson has actively courted Republican support, accepting an endorsement from the Mainstream Republicans of Washington, as well as Republican King County councilmember Reagan Dunn, who is fundraising on her behalf. She has accepted $2,000 from the Republican-aligned Cascade PAC, which is supporting far right MAGA candidates including Matt Larkin and Tiffany Smiley. She has also recently spoken at Republican events including House Minority Leader J.T. Wilcox’s annual Salmon Bake, donations from which are funneled directly to anti-abortion election denying Republican candidates, and at a Republican women’s event, where Klippert was also in attendance (photograph below).

The stakes in this race are clear. It is our responsibility to make this a safe seat for Democrats for years to come and we will work around the clock to ensure Secretary Hobbs has what it takes to win!

Debate season is underway in Washington State!

This past Sunday, Senator Patty Murray went head to head with MAGA Republican opponent Tiffany Smiley in a televised debate at Gonzaga University in Spokane. You can watch the debate here and we’ve linked to a Seattle Times article summarizing the key points below. Secretary of State Steve Hobbs and opponent Julie Anderson also squared off at Gonzaga earlier that day (watch here!

Additionally, Rep. Adam Smith went toe to toe with GOP opponent Doug Basler on Tuesday. You can watch a recording of that debate here!

Last but not least, Congresswoman Kim Schrier and MAGA Republican opponent Matt Larkin are scheduled to debate at Central Washington University tonight at 7:00pm! You won’t want to miss this one, so please tune in here!
